An Interview With Leanne Brown
Former, "The Real Housewives of Cheshire" cast member, Leanne Brown is following her own journal guidance and listing items from her wardrobe on HEWI London.
We chatted with leanne to find out more about her journal "Grace, Gratitude, Grit", her work with charity "One Woman at a Time" and what's next for her..
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself A: I was formerly a cast member of a reality tv show, which has been the best thing that could have happened to me: although it was tough at times it made me realise who I really was and what I wanted to do. In a show that is renowned as a need for a better word bitch fest I definitely knew it wasn't for me!
After leaving I have been on such an incredible journey of self healing and happiness. This led me to write my first self help journal... GRACE GRATITUDE GRIT. This includes life advice of all the knowledge I have gained so far through my learning, which I am still enjoying doing. Life is one big journey and we never stop learning. This is available online to buy now girlgotgrit.co.uk if your looking to improve your motivation, mindset and gain some tips on how to achieve your goals this is definitely for you!
Aside from my journal I have become closely involved with charity onewomanatatime.co.uk which helps women and girls subject or at risk of FGM, forced marriage and gender based violence by giving them economic power over their lives. Traveling to Africa in January 2018 was the most humbling experience of my life and one which has inspired me and I continue to raise funds in any way I can to help create a better future for women worldwide.
I have a wonderful husband and 3 amazing daughters I love very much and I am so grateful and blessed. If everyone in the world that had love in abundance took the time to give back just a little it would certainly be better place. Love and light x
Q: Who's your favourite designer?
A: So many it's so difficult to say one! It depends on the collection and the season I suppose and there are so many new designers every year! I have invested in Balmain over the years. Zimmerman has fast become a favourite too although completely different in styles.... says it all about me! I dress depending on my mood and event. Sometimes I love structure and sometimes romantic and girly. Free People is a great highstreet brand I love for that boho style too. Of course you can't beat Zara for a quick fix too!
Q: What's the one fashion item you own that you couldn't live without? A: To be honest I could live without any of them. I love fashion and I love to dress up for all occasions and some items I wear regularly but one thing I have learned is all material things are replaceable when you are exposed to others living in such poverty and without basic human rights even my once best most loved possessions fade into insignificance.
Q: Which book are you currently reading? A: There's two books I'm reading at the moment. One is called 'The Untethered Soul' by Michael A Singer: it's about realising you are not your thoughts you can become a watcher of them. It's pretty deep but an enlightening read.
The other is the 'Medical Medium.' This guy is a miracle. His knowledge is way ahead of the medical Industry as he states he is being informed from a higher power. The proof is in the people he has healed since being 4 years old. He explains about all kinds of illness that can be cured by simply feeding your body with the right nutrients through foods and supplements. The theory is that most researchers only discover how to prescribe medication to mask the symptoms not cure the illness! I can recommend both.
Q: Which show are you obsessed with? A: I don't really watch tv daily unless there's a really good drama on that's a must see! I love Strictly Come Dancing as that's my dream to appear on there one day! I am obsessed with Netflix and can't wait for some new series to start 'Handmaid's Tale' 'Stranger Things' and so many more to mention!
Q: What's your go-to food recipe? A: I don't cook as often as I should but if I was it would probably be a Thai veggie curry. I have this and a couple of others on my app leannebrownofficial.com I plan to keep adding them, I also write a blog on here too it's quite new.
Q: Who inspires you? A: My mum, my children and Jean Anderson founder of the charity have played an incredible role in helping me become who I am today. Aside from that anyone that has the courage and motivation to make something of themselves especially after enduring hardships in their lives and anyone that gives their time to help another human. Time is the most precious gift of all I always say use it wisely and spread the love and abundance it will come back to you tenfold!
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? A: Don't look back, keep your chin held high, if ever you feel disheartened take a breath and look how far you have come, there is great things waiting for you..... trust in your struggle it's what will make you strong.
Q: What's next for you?
A: I have begun doing talks at different seminars and events which is something I never thought I would have done. It's definitely been out of my comfort zone but I am loving speaking and spreading my learning and positivity and of course promoting my journal! I am hoping to grow the girlgotgrit.co.uk brand too and write another journal maybe by the end of the year.
I would love to continue speaking but also would love to do some presenting, as I said I would love to go on Strictly one day but my ideal future would be to do the kind of presenting Stacey Dooley does, as being able to raise awareness for so many important causes, that would be the ultimate goal for me!
Our next Empowerment Ball is going to be on 17 May at Mere Golf and Country Club for One Woman at a Time. Aside from that I am off to Great Wall of China in September for our sponsored walk for the charity too!
Looks like an exciting year ahead!
