Tips For Selling Your Luxury Goods Online
When it comes to re-organising your wardrobe to make room for a new season, why not consider selling your luxury items online and giving them a new home?

1. Take Your Time
Without strong images and a great description, it can be difficult for a buyer to understand what your product is. If you take your time and take clean and clear images and add an informative description, the buyer will have a full understanding of your item and will be more likely to buy.
Remember, your items are high value, so you want the time and effort put into your listing to reflect the price you're asking.
2. Attractive and Clear Imagery Is Key
You can add between 3 and 10 images of your item and we recommending adding as many as possible in order to achieve a sale as this is the first impression a buyer gets. If your clothing is creased, iron or steam it first and hang it in a naturally lit area where possible. For shoes and bags, we recommend using a table or flat surface. Don't take your images on a bold background either, where possible aim for a light, white background so that your item is the central focus.
Ensure you take images of the branding, labels and any key features of the product that not only show the buyer why it's special, but can help to prove its authenticity. We also recommend adding images of any packaging or accessories you have.
If your item is worn, show where the wear and tear is through your images, as this will prevent you from having to answer questions or risk a return later down the line. Honesty is a must, and the clearer you can be about the wear, the more likely your item is to sell.
3. Consider Pricing & Be Realistic
It's easy to price highly, but consider the quality of your item when deciding upon the price you're listing it for. What would you want to pay for this item? Don't be afraid to ask if you need some advice and remember to check the website for inspiration! Our approval team reviews every listing and will advise you on pricing in order to help you get a speedy sale and free up that much needed space in your wardrobe.
Prices of new items will drop every few months or so as new collections are released and items go into store sales; however there are a few brands that may buck this trend, particularly classic Chanel Bags and Hermes Birkin bags. Our research actually found that the value of a Birkin could increase 300% in the next decade!

4. Be As Detailed As Possible
When listing your item consider a number of factors to include in your description. Remember, the buyer can not try the item on before buying so the more information you give, the easier it is to advertise your product, meaning it'll sell quicker, what would you want to know? You will be guided through the listing process however, we recommend always including the following:
- The brand and style name/number of the product
- Marked size & Measurements; is the item true to size or should a buyer size up or down?
- Weight and fabrication; lightweight? Soft to touch or structured, does it slip on or is it buttoned etc
- Design Features (ie metal clasp, hardware, embroidery, chains)
- True colour
- Length (ie midi, short sleeve)
- Season (is it current season, Limited edition or a special collaboration)
5. Be Clear With Sizing
Sizing is vital for buyers to know whether it's the right fit for them. As an international luxury resale site, it can be beneficial to list EU and US sizing in your listing too (the most common sizes are French, Italian, English & US - you can use our size chart to convert these). Also consider adding elements such as heel height, handbag dimensions and whether a product is oversized or has a larger/smaller fit.
We have a site messaging system on HEWI so that you can communicate with both admin and any potential buyers, and you are likely to receive questions from buyers regarding your products. Where possible, try to respond to them in a timely manner and always be polite. They may ask for additional information or imagery - remember they're purchasing a high value item from you, so the more information you can give them the better; after all it’ll help you make the sale.
